I have always been most alive in nature. Since my youngest days, I have loved walking in the woods and fields, idling along ponds and rivers, and discovering all the astonishing treasures the natural world offers. I have lived on farms and in cities, traveled across the world, and every place I go, I find beauty in common things.
I grew up in the forests of Western Pennsylvania, in the Allegheny Mountains of the Eastern United States, and the woods are still my spiritual home. The images I create honor and respect the things that I learned early in life sustain us -- the Sun, the Moon, the forests, the trees, the rivers, the sea, plants, animals, insects, even the rocks and stones at our feet. These are the things that sustain me, and my gratitude toward them is never ending.
As a photographer, I want to share the beauty of the natural world, and also of the human-made world we live in. As each day passes, we have the opportunity to note so much -- the passing of the light across a flower, the shadow falling on a rock wall, the explosion of color in a spring orchard. Those moments are what I most want to capture, and what I hope to bring to the world. Attention must be paid -- beauty permeates in every moment. All we have to do is take the time to notice!
Although I spent most of my life living in the United States on both the East and West Coasts, I now live in Prague, Czech Republic, a place I have come to love since I arrived. Europe offers fresh opportunities for discovery, and my camera is never far away!
